Expensive, And No Water
Pretty expensive for no amenities. $120 for 2 nights. We paid in-season price only to get there and find that the water was turned off. No fresh water and no running water at the dump. 50A plug wasn't accessible because the box was mangled. We tried to talk to someone about the price and water on our way out, but he basically gave us the "not my problem" attitude. Lady when we checked in was nice though. The campground section was pretty unkept. Nothing mowed. Facilities were ok. Clean and warm. And the walking/hiking trails were beautiful. We went here to test pilot a new camper, but ended up fighting the site and location more than anything. Had to re-level on day 2. The spot was so marshy that we sunk to one side. We initially tried to book an end site so it would be easier with our dog but it showed booked. Tried to call a bunch of times but no one answers. That spot we were looking at stayed vacant all weekend.

Quiet County Park
Nice enough park with good site size. We stayed on site 29, was wet from rain and has a lot of front to back slope. Other sites down the road seemed dryer and more level. Water is available at the check in office. Dump station water was turned off (assumed per time of year, mid October). Expensive for electric only sites $42 -$47/ night. Gate is locked nightly from 10 pm to 7 am, cannot enter or leave, unless emergency via the camp host.

Camped here in an 26 ft RV, larger RVs might be a problem on some sites. No water at site, you need to fill up at bath house. NOTE: no threaded fittings, bring a “water thief” to hook up to the faucet, then hold the button until full. Very nice facility other than that. If you need to be near Chicago, definitely a possibility. The gates close at 10 pm, so make arrangements with the manager if you go out. Outstanding scenery for a city park.

Beautiful
Very quiet and in the nature campground. Loved the view on the lake, the hiking trails, the pond, bathrooms are ok and about 40 min drive to Chicago downtown. Will definitely stop here again if we plan a Chicago visit.

Bullfrog Lake
This is a hotel, an outside hotel. Bathrooms were good. Sunset over the hill and pond was nice. The shop was convenient. Very non threatening, great place to get started into camping. Firewood delivered to campsite isn't enough but nice (bring something to start the logs). Fishing and other activities very close and in the area. Only real negative other than how they bulldozed Nature to build a campground, is that there is thick gravel under the tent material. Try to bring the thinner tent spikes. No privacy at all. Very close. A bit pricy for what it is, but nice to have well run place close to home. Must go to little red school house it's great! For any age other than teen but even then.
