Nice Park
Nice Park, about 1/2 the sites have some shade. Caverns are interesting. An hour away from Virginia City and Nevada City. Virginia City is a historical town with old buildings and small shops. Nevada City is basically a western town partially restored that operates as a museum, at certain times there may be demos, when we were there they had broom makers, a gun guy and a Tinsmith. The Jefferson Valley Museum is nearby in Whitehall, a typical local museum BUT if you’re lucky you’ll get a personal tour from Ron a lifelong local resident/town historian who brings the history alive. As far as the campground believe the signs at the trailheads that warn about Prairie Rattlesnakes, trails thru the grass are narrow so they’re tough to spot, wife ran into one while I was setting up camp. It rattled before she saw it. Don’t let it scare you just be aware.

Love this State Park!
Sites are large and spaced out. Power at about half so you should book ahead. We managed to get one of the two non-reserveable sites and ended up staying a week. Lots of bluebirds!
Hiking/mtn biking trails right from the campground. Trails around the campground are easy but the three from the top are somewhat steep and rugged for bikes, it's best to ride up the road to the Caverns and then down the trail.
We used it as a base for day trips in the area. Three Forks and Virginia city are fun.
Be sure to visit the Caverns
Only downside is the sun gets intense so pick an afternoon shaded site if you can. And don't leave your awning out, afternoon winds come up quick!

It's Ok
$28 or $32 with electric.
$3.50 for 6 min. shower
$5 for dump station
Nothing special for me.
We live in Missouri so caverns aren't a big deal.

Nice Spot
Large sites. Few trees strategically located. Average restrooms. Water spigitots in several locations but $5 charge for dump station even if you stay at park, weird. Caverns are worth a visit and will take half a day or so. No need to stay more than a few days unless you just want to hang out.

Very Hospitable
$28 for a spot without electricity. Very clean bathrooms with showers nearby. The hiking trails to the caverns (1.8 m) and to the river (1.5 m) start at the campground. Choose site carefully as the sun is relentless, and trees are few.

No Shade but nice
Nice but very few spots have shade. Windy at times. I had to wind stake the tent. Excellent playground. Local swimming hole nearby, ask the host. Cave tour is excellent.

Beautiful
Electric hookups at some campsites. Clean bathrooms. Dump site at campground.
Hiking trails right from campground.
Kids loved the playground! ( it was a nice playground) we could watch them right from our campsite!
The caverns is like a 10 min drive up the road.
